Alec hesitated as he opened the package; surprisingly, he had spent little of the thousand gold coins and still had most of it left. According to the mysterious person’s pricing, a bottle of cola cost a hundred times the original price for a thousand gold coins. He chuckled coldly, recognizing a savvy business opportunity.
Yet, simultaneously, an excellent idea surged in his mind: why not simply rob that shop? The remaining cola would be his, and he could sell it for a large profit to the nobles in the main city. They were not short on money; I could easily sell a bottle for ten thousand gold coins and find buyers. As for the rumored shop owner being a demon? Hmph! With the followers of the Church of Light at his side, he would justify taking down the dark forces.
Alec glanced at the unmoving scar-faced man and casually tossed him a bag of gold coins, his attitude dismissive, as if shooing away a beggar. This immediately darkened the man’s expression; with a cold laugh, he questioned Alec, “What? You think you can just brush us aside? Chairman, you must be rather comfortable.”
He had taken on this task not for coin; otherwise, he could have simply fled with the thousand gold coins. He had heard that the Magic Association had individuals capable of casting advanced healing spells and light-wing protection, prompting his risky decision. The light-wing protection could save someone from fatal injuries caused by external wounds. His brother had been gravely injured while fighting against a tide of beasts; after struggling to save his life, as the wounds worsened, he had no choice but to seek help from the Magic Association.
Alec frowned, not wanting to engage much, and said, “You all should go back for now; I will send someone in a couple of days.”
“You…” The scar-faced man couldn’t help but want to grab Alec by his collar, but before he got close, his subordinates were already stopped. With his companion seriously ill, every day could be their last; how could they afford to wait two more days? He clenched his fists, his teeth grinding.
Suddenly, remembering the demon’s handsome face, the scar-faced man slowly released his fists and turned to leave. He thought he should not have trusted the credibility of the Magic Association, but thankfully, there was still a glimmer of hope. As long as the demon lord had a way to help his companion, he wouldn’t need the Magic Association’s charity.
He recalled some other items he had purchased in a daze, including a medical item, something called a band-aid. He decided to go back and give it a try.
“Greetings, Your Excellency, Bishop. This is my nephew, Evan. We have come to seek the assistance of the God of Light regarding a significant matter.” Alec placed one hand over his chest, addressing a middle-aged man in a red robe with gold trim, who had a compassionate expression and a respectful demeanor.
In recent years, as beast tides continuously attacked cities, the Church of the God of Light had grown in strength, spreading its faith among the suffering populace. The Church had rapidly gained followers, and in every city, there was a chapel overseen by a bishop, respected by all. Including Vista City, despite its remote location and distance from the main city, it still had a grand bishop stationed there.
Evan eagerly stepped forward, his eyes glimmering with excitement, bowing to the bishop. “Your Excellency, I’ve heard that there is a demon in the abyss. By the God of Light, we cannot let such a dark creature go unpunished. But due to our limited capabilities, we have come to the church… what do you think?”
Without hesitation, he relayed how Eber had advanced to a high-tier warrior in just one night, indignant. “It must be the demon’s wicked powers; who knows what price must be paid? You must not let that vile demon escape!”
Evan spoke passionately, yet internally he mocked the situation, not believing in those demon rumors; the lower class tended to panic and attribute anything they didn’t understand to demons. However, this time he intended to use the Church’s strength to deal with the rumored demon effortlessly. Then, he could help his uncle, Alec, sell the treasures within and solve his financial issues for good.
“Rest assured, it is merely a regular demon. You won’t be doing this for free; there will certainly be gold coins afterward,” Alec added, moving closer and making conspiratorial gestures.
“The Church of the God of Light eradicates evil for the people; I will not let that demon evade justice.” The bishop waved his hand, summoning a group of light knights, equipped with holy water personally sanctified by the Holy Son, determined to explore the abyss further.
Alec and Evan witnessed the issuing of commands, feeling as if they could already see gold coins pouring down, smiles on their faces becoming increasingly sincere.

The next day, Lusiann opened the system panel, mentally calculating the restocking quantity and the remaining energy coins.
[Energy Coins: 1990]
[Remaining Product Quantity: 120 (Total)]
Thanks to Eber’s promotion, within just two days, he had already accumulated a bit of capital, enough to not worry too much about the inventory cost when restocking.
Looking at the still-gray product panel, the next item’s unlocking condition was one universal energy coin, and he was still far from that.
As usual, he opened the shop doors at eight in the morning, startled by the numerous people waiting outside. What was happening today? Was there a rush of customers?
Lusiann’s mind raced with possibilities.
It was unfortunate for the Church; they had never been to Floating Life General Store and didn’t know it was closed at night. Alec was loaded with bad ideas, believing nighttime was the perfect ambush opportunity; hence, they decided to catch everyone off guard. This led to the current situation.
A large group of priests and knights spent the cold night of the abyss trembling, while Lusiann peacefully lay sleeping in his soft bed.
The abyssal night was no joke; its icy chill penetrated to the bone, and no physical warmth could counter it. Eventually, the bishop could no longer endure it and cast an advanced light magic, Light Wing.
A high-tier group defense spell, an extremely rare magic that consumed a massive amount of magical energy, was used solely for warmth to ensure they wouldn’t perish before even encountering the demon.
